As I was reading thru an Etsy interview with laralewis I found some inspirationl advice from her that I want to remember:
"Try not to compare yourself to others, it will just make you feel bad and prevent you from developing your own style. Most importantly: Don’t give up! "

Also, I realized I want a clean, organized, cheerful, brightly lit studio.

Fortune Cookie

"Be not afraid of moving slowly, only of standing still."

I've been perusing Etsy the past couple of days and I keep coming across these vintage, or not so vintage, bibs. I have fallen in love! I mean, who doesn't love the bib shirts? And now this is a fabulous way to dress up a boring old tee shirt and jeans outfit without having to put on some stiff button up that your arms aren't going to be able to move in anyways (unless you've got really skinny arms). You can be comfortable in the million tanks you own in every color and still look very presentable to the outside world. I want lots and lots of these and these, seriously, check out the fringe! Just imagine the movement it has, and how it will caress your body. Try not to strut in this stuff, I dare you!

Autumn Colors

I've started making, what I hope to become, a necklace. It will feature the autumn colors such as reds, greens, oranges, yellows and browns. It's also my first experiment with gold leaf. I'm back to enameling and I've been practicing my torch firing skills. So far I've only melted one piece, and it wasn't a total meltdown. To be fair I did have 13 pieces which some might consider unlucky in the first place. I've just weeded out all the bad luck. Should be smooth sailing from here on out!

I've also been doing a lot of data entry for a temp gig I got at a laser company the past two weeks. I didn't get to do any of the cool stuff like mix gasses to make laser beams. That's probably for the best seeing as how there wouldn't be anything but a hole left in the ground if I had. Mass destruction is fun but not nearly as exciting as entering thousands of part numbers into a fantastic new operating system. Anyways, my point being that after all these 8 hour days of typing and clicking my wrist is killing me. It made me think about an article I read recently in Art Jewelry Magazine about RSI and how important it is to have proper posture and stretches to do every hour or so. Basically, it said not to sit scrunched up in a cubical moving nothing but your wrists for hours on end. Another jewelry blogger gives a good summary of the July 09 issue, but barely glances over the only reason I actually bought the magazing... commence salivary glands ... Angela Gerhard's enameling article... I'll get into that at a later time.

I also saw these really cool gloves that are meant to improve circulation and provide support for your wrists in Jewelry Artist Magazine. They come in bad-ass patterns and are fingerless! They are totally going on my wish list. I'm sure it's nothing, but I cant stop worrying about how my arm is probably going to fall off from lack of blood flow. Good thing I'm and inspector now (yay! i have a reliable way to pay the bills). Hello hobo gloves, bye bye data entry.

First of Many

I certainly hope it will become that.

Alas, I have begun my blogging career hopefully to great success. Although, I'm not entirely sure what that means. I know I will spend many a night laying awake imagining that I have a faithful, captive audience, sitting intently staring at their screen, eating up every word that I post. Horribly disappointed on the days that I do not fulfill their voyeuristic curiosity on my comings and goings.

Or perhaps I'm simply keeping a record of my thoughts in a journal. Since I have never seemed to be able to do this very thing on paper. Then again, no one has been reading that, at least not that I'm aware of. This is a very narcissistic tool in my estimation, assuming that people will read and enjoy, or at least comment on, thoughts of one particular individual.

Anyhow, I hopefully will be able to pick a theme and continue on that path for the life of this blog, that theme I wish to be jewelry.

More on that later... to the studio I go. Maybe I'll tell you about it.
